The signs of a stroke can be subtle, the damage devastating.
If you suspect that someone has suffered a stroke, make the following simple requests of them:
1. Ask them to smile.
2. Ask them to speak a simple sentence.
3. Ask them to raise both arms.
4. Ask them to stick out their tongue.
If they have trouble with any one of these tasks, call 911. Time is critically important because stroke damage can often be reversed if a person gets appropriate care within hours.
