On approaching
a national icon the
stature of Uluru (formerly
known as Ayers Rock),
one almost expects
to be
disappointed. How could
the big rock possibly
live up to its billing
as an international
superstar? Suffice
to say, it did. The
colour
variations
you'll note in the
photos are entirely
the result of the sun
hitting different aspects
of Uluru at different
points in its trajectory.
